This course is designed to introduce students to the global asset management industry. Topics will include: investment fund structures, asset allocation, risk management, manager due diligence, manager life cycles, operational due diligence, ethics and regulation. Lecture materials will cover the theoretical and financial mechanics of asset management with emphasis on real-world applications suitable for students intending to pursue careers in the industry (as an investor/allocator, product specialist, compliance officer, operational assessor, risk specialist, etc.). The empirical analysis in this course will primarily focus on the US asset managers and regulation.
