COURSE DESCRIPTION An introduction to basic macroeconomic analysis with special emphasis on problems of unemployment, inflation, and economic growth. Topics include national income determination; money, financial markets, and monetary policy; fiscal policy and the economic role of government; the United States and the world economy.
STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES Students will learn to analyze and evaluate economic behavior (such as market dynamics) and economic actors (such as firms, households, and governments) using economic concepts and models. Additionally, you will be able to understand a series of economic concepts, be able to use them, and identify them as they are deployed in real world examples.
Please note: You may find mastering the material exceedingly difficult without proper preparation, practice, and attending class. And finally, by law this course expects you to devote approx. 180 hrs of your time, this total value includes the 48 hrs of in class interaction. This translates to approx. 9 hours of reading, problem solving and writing per week in addition to in class interaction.
