Course Goal
This course is an introduction to physical or biological anthropology, which explores the scientific or biological aspects of humans. We will survey some basic principles of evolutionary theory, primatology, the hominid fossil record, origins of modern humans and their physical variation.
Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course the student will be able to:
1. Identify and apply the key terminology, theories, theoretical orientations, methods and perspectives used in biological anthropology
2. Compare and contrast scientific knowledge with other ways of knowing and be able to apply scientific knowledge to the study of humans
3. Apply evolutionary theory in understanding how evolution works to shape populations of living organisms over time.
